James Marshall Browne built Rosemark Haven in the 1830's. This gracious old Southern home is skillfully restored with its breathtaking three-story oval spiral staircase, twelve and thirteen foot ceilings, wide plank yellow poplar and ash floors throughout, antique furnishings, and fireplaces in most rooms. This is the type of setting that inspired Stephen Foster to sing about his "Old Kentucky Home." We now herald Rosemark Haven as "Your Old Kentucky Home."
Rosemark Haven is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (listed as Bruntwood on the Nat'l Register), and was voted "Inn of the Month" in Country Living Magazine (Sept 2005), and The New York Times Magazine states "Rosemark Haven in Bardstown, KY is a stylish place to stay." (July 22, 2005).
During your stay, we encourage you to have dinner in our dining room, which serves up some great Italian! Or perhaps visit our wine bar, serving beer, wine and appetizers - the wine bar is inside what was once the tobacco barn on the plantation. Several rooms have whirlpool tubs, and some have fireplaces. The Federal House and Stiles Suite have private entrances. The property has central air-conditioning throughout, and each guest room has its own private, attached bathroom.
Rosemark Haven offers six guest rooms inside the mansion. Plush king size beds, large windows, and comfort with a retrospective decor invite you to a peace and quiet tucked away from city sounds. There is also the Federal House, which is a separate guest house on the property with two bedrooms, a living room and a gathering room.
In addition to breakfast in the morning, (included in the price of your room), we offer Bardstown's most creative dining, in an upscale atmosphere, in our restaurant. Our dinner menu is primarily authentic Italian, but we also have some excellent local favorites. We are open to the public for dinner, reservations are not required. (Dinner is not included in the price of your room.)
Breakfast at Rosemark Haven is both hearty & fresh. We strive to serve you a variety of tasty and creative menu items, using ingredients from the traditional breakfast table. The result is a seasonally rotated menu, examples of which may include but are certainly not limited to: baked french toast, bernaise eggs on toast, fluffy omelets, fresh fruit and pastries. Our full breakfast is served with freshl coffee, juice, tea & cocoa at 9am in the dining room. At Rosemark Haven, breakfast takes on an elegance that is reminiscent of a past that we need to remember.
